You are invited to the BCIA Babywearing Education Committee!
Meetings are the third Tuesday of each month at 12:00 pm Eastern time (New York City).
BCIA’s babywearing education committee is comprised of BCIA members who are babywearing educators, consultants, group leaders, and manufacturers as well as professionals who include babywearing-related topics in their work as healthcare professionals.
The committee work is driven by committee members, with key areas of focus being:
- compiling research and evidence related to babywearing education, health, and safety
- collaborating to agree on evidence-based best practices in babywearing and babywearing education
- creating tangible resources to share with the community, both consumer-facing and company-facing
- arranging in-person meetups
Our first mayor project is compiling current research with the goal of revising the white paper/position paper written in 2010 by the BCIA board.
The BCIA offers memberships to babywearing nonprofits, independent educators/practitioners, carrier resellers, babywearing schools, brands/manufacturers, and anyone else consulting in or working in the babywearing space or adjacent markets.
Nonprofit membership is only $100, and $135 for independent educators/practitioners/consultants. If you’re not currently a member, you can learn about and apply for membership here: https://babycarrierindustryalliance.org/membership/. We also offer a limited number of in-kind memberships for nonprofit groups who don’t have the budget to become BCIA members — our organization strives to be inclusive. You can email the director if you’re interested in learning more about this.
You can find the details for individual Babywearing Education Committee meetings on our events page.
